I Make Particle

Here is my first attempt at making a steam effect with the UDK.

I generated a sprite texture using volume Vops in Houdini and then rendering it with Mantra. I wanted to make a shape that was interesting enough not to display as a cloud of fuzz balls when used in the simulation, but not too detailed, which might cause a lot of high frequency repitition.

Next, I constructed the material. Vops, anyone?

And finally, I set up the particle system using The following properties:
-per particle alpha, which ramps on and then off over time. 
-per particle scale, which increases over time.
-per particle initial rotation and per particle rotation.


 (sorry for the low framerate - the udk doesn't play nice with snagit)
